Lots of things have been going on here at Amy Rae Photography, both professionally and personally. Here is a little update on what has been going on and what is to come. Earlier this year I signed a contract to overhaul my branding and with that a lot of my business model and how things run. With that will come some big changes as well as some small ones! I am very excited to share everything that I have been working on. I hope to preview the new look in October. More will come along with that over the next few months. I like to think that Amy Rae Photography is growing up as I have learned a lot on this journey of building a business, finding my niche, and passion. I also am waiting for the new look of the blog to launch before any recent weddings are posted. I feel that I want the work that I am most proud of and that reflects my style to be up in conjunctions with the new Amy Rae Photography look.

Last April I was in Minnesota for nearly 1.5 months. I was able to enjoy time with family as well as photograph a few weddings. In June I returned back to Oklahoma and I have recently started working at the local hospital on the med/surg floor for nursing. It is a very casual job to keep me busy when time is slow! In the middle of August I returned to Minnesota for three weddings! I also took advantage of the time off during the week and spent it at my cabin. It was a much needed retreat! Tonight I am packing up and getting ready for the long drive back to Oklahoma. But not without a trip to the great Minnesota Get-Together (the State Fair). I will have to drag myself to spinning class after eating all the fried food on a stick!

In just a couple days I will be back in Oklahoma getting back into my nursing job and cooking dinner for Matt (I miss my hubby)!! I will be back in Minnesota for a week at the end of the month and then the travel slows down again for a bit! I have LOVED my time at home, but it is time to go back and live life! I will leave you with a preview from the three weddings I did during this last trip to Minnesota!

Four Years Ago | I Married My Best Friend

Happy Anniversary baby!! I can’t believe it has been four years! Even longer that we have been together. Matt and I started dating in 2002 (he was only 16)! We got married after I finished my nursing school while he was still in college! Some thought we were still a little young, but looking back I wouldn’t have changed anything! I have had so much fun being married, independent, learning, and growing! We have seen the world together (more than once) and watched our friendship, love, and respect for each other grow every day! I am so excited that it is my turn to see Matt live his dream and that we can help each other to be the best versions of ourselves!!

Simon and Kate | Wedding Dance

Just wanted to post this fun dance that Simon and his roommates did at the reception. It was awesome! It is always fun when couples decide to take this one step further and add their own personality to their wedding day. I know everyone loved it!

Laura and Colton | Wisconsin Wedding Photography

Laura and Colton met at Story Book Lodge Bible Camp. This place is very special to me since I spent many years at that camp, met great friends, and most importantly my husband! I was very excited when Laura called me and explained that her and Colton had also met at the same camp. I know that they each found someone very special. They have an unconditional love for one another that was very evident this day. We started at Amy Chapel (yes, I thought it was cool!) where Laura and Colton chose to privately see each other for the first time. I think that whether you see each other or not before the ceremony is it important to make it your own. The moment is very special and I am glad that they felt it important to have it alone together. After the ceremony we headed to a local park by the river that got us out of the wind and bright sun. It made a great setting for some more informal shots. The reception followed at the Holiday Inn in Eau Claire, WI where everyone enjoyed celebrating the new couple. Line dancing followed and everyone had a blast. So great to spend the day with you both!

Here is the other shoot that I was able to do while I was in Las Vegas, NV for WPPI. I was very excited for this shoot because I got to plan and style it all myself! It was an awesome experience to come up with some concepts and see it all unfold. We has a great group of photographers and vendors that helped with the photo shoot. Pushing My Limits | MTH

This past week I coordinated a local wedding concept shoot with other local vendors from the Enid, OK area. I was given the challenge to do a concept shoot and my fears told me that it was going to be too hard and I didn’t have enough time. On Tuesday I am leaving for Minnesota for six weeks. Two weeks ago a friend said she would help me and pushed me to go for it! So in less than a couple weeks a concept shoot was pulled together with other local vendors!! It didn’t go without it’s bumps along the way. The hardest thing was finding a location and two days before the shoot a friend graciously let me use his barn. With a little cleaning it fit the part. The shoot day came and with doubts in my mind I was scared! The day started off unusually cold and the NW Oklahoma wind was blowing right into the barn. I wanted to get the shoot over with, I was tired, stressed, nervous, and having sleepless nights! To push it out another day was going to make my stomach knot! I found some courage, called the other vendors, and everyone was kind enough to make their schedules work. The shoot ended up taking place the next day and it was gorgeous!! No wind and stunning evening light! Some days are great in Oklahoma! Here is a sneak peak of the shoot. A full (HUGE) post will come later!

Nelson, NV | WPPI Photo Shoot

I got to participate in an awesome shoot that was coordinated by a great friend Laura Ivanova while we were in Las Vegas for WPPI! We went out to an amazing location in Nelson, NV that was part of an old mining town! You will see for yourself all the great things we got to use in our photographs at this location. While I was in Las Vegas attending WPPI I arranged a photo shoot to take place with eight other photographers at a local winery.
